About Farah
Farah Piriye Coene is an independent curator, art consultant, cultural producer, and co-founder of ZEITGEIST19. Her curatorial practice encompasses multidisciplinary projects that bridge the gap between art and scientific research. Through ZEITGEIST19, Farah collaborates with researchers and artists, exploring the deep interconnections between these fields. These explorations inspire her curatorial projects, which include multimedia works such as installations, performances, films, and sound art.
Farah's work focuses on transnational dialogues, centred on addressing both environmental and social narratives.
She explores how history, migration, memory, identity, and other social forces intersect with environmental challenges, shaping our modern realities. Through her theoretical research and socially engaged art projects, Farah questions the dilemmas of borders and freedom while highlighting the urgent need for environmental awareness. Her practice challenges conventional definitions and forms, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between humanity and the environment.

Farah earned her first MA in the History of Fine and Decorative Arts from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London, in 2011, followed by a second MA in Curation, Culture, and Criticism from Central Saint Martins in 2017. In 2019, she co-founded ZEITGEIST19, a nonprofit research-led platform dedicated to exploring the intersection of art and sustainability. Through ZEITGEIST19, Farah hosts talks and produces podcast series featuring both established and emerging experts from various fields, focusing on the socio-environmental impact of culture.
